The Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has assured that a baseline survey will be carried out to bring land base map surveys up to date and digitise all land records of the country.

He said introduction of the digitisation system is part of a road map on sanitising the land sector and addressing the poor land management system in the country.

The base map survey will provide background information details to all lands, including owners and litigants, to prospective buyers – as well as address issues associated with land administration, land titling and transfer of land title.

He said the last time such an exercise was conducted in the country was over four decades ago, in 1974.

The Vice-President made these statements during the unveilling and commissioning of 335 Place in North Dzorwulu, Accra.

The 12-storey office complex was constructed in collaboration with the Africa Real Estate Fund, 335 Place Limited and Eris Properties Ghana Limited – a subsidiary of Eris Property Group of South Africa.

It has four levels of structured parking, provides 385 onsite parking bays and has a lower-basement with self-sufficient power generators, a water treatment plant, and a sewerage treatment plant.

Delivering his speech, Dr. Bawumia called for more attention to be paid to the real estate industry, since the sector is an important hub for job creation. He also urged the real-estate sector to develop the skills of more youth in the construction industry.

“While I encourage and support a replication of this real estate development model, I strongly urge you, with the passage of time, to adjust your model to meet changing needs and demands in other areas of real estate development – in the context of unstoppable global advances in technology and skills training of the youth in the construction industry,” he stated.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eris Properties Ghana Limited, Mr. Enoch Entsua Mensah, on his part said embarking upon this project is in response to the fast-changing business and industrial climate in Ghana

He noted that the emerging business climate has brought into sharp focus the acute deficit in provision of suitable Grade A office accommodation, thus requiring new strategic responses to help fill the deficit.

“Some of the fundamental but critical questions that we asked ourselves at the project conceptualisation stage were: Should we wait for an already overburdened government to engage in commercial real estate development? 335 Place marks the beginning of our strategic response to the deficit in Grade A commercial office development in the country,” he added.

The CEO said he is confident that the facility will help provide an enabling environment for both international and local organisations which are looking for Grade A corporate office accommodation for their operations.
